First, make sure that your cake is completely cooled. Cover the serving plate with squares of waxed paper so it doesn't get dirty. Place one half of the cake on the plate, dome side down, and drop a big dollop of frosting in the middle. Dip a knife or spatula in some warm water and spread the frosting evenly over the cake. Lay the other cake half on top, dome side up, and cover it with the rest of the frosting. Spread the frosting from the middle out. Remember to cover the sides.
